Elohai

For the ones who pray for people they will never meet.

Every church has them. The people who wake at five to pray through a list of names, most of whom will never know. Elohai is going to give them a place, and this page says how, honestly, including the part that is not built yet.

How it will work

A person in the app asks for prayer, in a few words, with no name attached. A prayer supporter, a real person vetted by a pastor and trained by us, receives the request, prays, and can send back a few lines. The person who asked reads them knowing a human wrote them. Later, the two can meet by voice or video, when both choose to.

What a prayer supporter never sees

A real name, an email, a phone number, or anything the person wrote privately. Supporters see the request, and only the request, the way a social worker sees a case and not a diary. Only the person who runs Elohai can ever connect a request to a name, and only for safety.

What a prayer supporter always is

A real person, presented as one. Elohai will never have a machine answer a prayer request pretending to be human. The companion in the app is labeled a companion. A prayer supporter is labeled a person, with a first name and a church.

Where it stands

This comes after the app launches and after the first care institutions are live. We are gathering the people now. If you are one of them, leave your name, your church, and a pastor who will vouch for you, and we will write to you when it is time.
